Good news from Bombardier – the train builder has renewed its contract with us for refurbishing 110 battery sets that are used on Southeastern's sliding door Electrostar electric multiple unit (EMU) Class 375 trains lots 0&1.

The battery overhaul programme will be carried out at the Bombardier depot in Chart Leacon, Ashford. There will be 45 four-car units and the batteries will be located in each Driving Motor Open Standard (DMOS) carriage, ie in the front and back coaches. There will also be 10 three-car units, again with a battery set in each DMOS.

The order follows a similar contract last year in which we supplied two batteries for each of 190 new trains on the District Line, the Metropolitan Line, the Circle Line and the Hammersmith and City Line, all of which run above and below ground.

Our zero maintenance rail.power batteries are based on the vlies.tec® technology and offer a long cycle life with maximum cranking current and no corrosion. Easy to handle and easy to clean, the batteries also offer excellent protection against the risk of explosion and prevent short-circuits.

When Southeastern wants top quality trains they turn to Bombardier and Bombardier turns to us for reliable power solutions. It's great to see our battery systems valued highly by the biggest names in the sector.
